It follows

It follows is a supernatural psychological horror noir film written and directed by David Robert Mitchell. The movie features one of the most terrifying opening scenes, in which we meet we're Jay, a young woman who has an uncomfortable sexual encounter. The affair results in Jay being chloroformed and tied up. After she’s getting her consciousness back, Jay is informed that she’s become a host for a creature that will kill her if she doesn't pass it on to someone else. The creature can only be seen by the person infected, making this a hardy film not just about sexual paranoia, but also the kind of psychosis where the main character questions very hold on her sanity.

Train to Busan

Train to Busan is a South Korean action horror film directed by Yeon Sang-ho. The film mostly takes place on a train to Busan as a zombie virus suddenly breaks out in the country and threatens the safety of the passengers.

Don’t be fooled though, it’s more than just a zombie movie, even for all its violent action as the humans struggle to survive. The story is a character study of one of the train passengers and his fractured relationship with his daughter and ex-wife. The uniqueness of the movie lays in the masterful creation of multi-dimensional characters, which only makes the story even more compelling.

It Comes at Night

It Comes at Night is a post-apocalyptic horror film written and directed by Trey Edward Shults. It’s a grim, horror drama that unfolds around the story of a family that tries to survive after a deadly disease wipes out most of the world. Despite best intentions, mistrust boil over as the horrors unfold with the arrival of a desperate young family seeking refuge. There are no chainsaw-wielding madmen or slobbering zombie ghouls, this movie shows fresh angle of viewing the popular topic of a virus caused apocalypse. The movie shows that paranoia can be as contagious as the deadly infection.

Hereditary

Hereditary is a supernatural horror film written and directed by Ari Aster, in his feature film directorial debut. The movie depicts a story of a griefing mid-age woman Annie, who’s anger after the death of her overbearing mother begins to spiral out of control. Annies relationship with her son, and daughter, aren't exactly the best, and her rage and depression prevent her from noticing that something is very wrong with her kids until it's far too late. As the situation worsens, Annie begins to realize there might be supernatural forces at play. The movie is a disturbing look of depression and it impacts on the family.

A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night is a vampire western film directed by Ana Lily Amirpour. Movie was tagged as "The first Iranian vampire Western” and is a truly intriguing spin on vampire lore. Women should avoid walking alone at night, it’s a global truth as old as hills. The Jacket

The Jacket is a American psychological thriller/horror film directed by John Maybury and starring Adrien Brody and Keira Knightley. It is partly based on the Jack London novel of the same name (published in the US as The Star Rover).

The narrative is a time slip fantasy in which an Iraqi Gulf war veteran who suffered a near-death experience while on active service returns to the United States where he is blamed for the death of a policeman, and incarcerated in a hospital for the criminally insane. Subject to experimental treatments there, which involve him being shut inside a morgue casket while tied in a straitjacket, he eventually learns to travel through time and is able to offer help to various people.
