Takht ( Throne) is an upcoming 2021 Indian period drama directed by Karan Johar and produced by Dharma Productions. Set in the 17th century Mughal India during the reign of the Mughal emperor Shah Jahan (1628–1658), the story of Takht is an account of the succession war between Shah Jahan's sons Dara Shikoh and Aurangzeb who were the contenders of his throne.


In late 1657 AD, the reigning Mughal emperor Shah Jahan falls seriously ill, which sparks off a war of succession among his four sons. The primary contenders for the emperor's throne is his eldest son and heir-apparent Dara Shukoh and his third son Aurangzeb. The two brothers battle it out to claim the majestic Peacock throne with Aurangzeb eventually defeating his older brother to become the sixth Mughal emperor.
