Sindoorkhela; is a popular Bengali television Soap Opera that premiered on December 6, 2010, and aired on Star Jalsha. Produced by Shree Venkatesh Films, it starred Shweta Bhattacharya as the main female protagonist, Samrat Bhattacharjee and Rohit Samanta as the male leads turned antagonists and Gargi Roychowdhury as main female antagonist. It also starred Kaushik Sen, Lily Chakraborty, Chandrayee Ghosh and Arpita Mukherjee in supporting roles. It replaced Star Jalsha's popular mega Ogo Bodhu Sundori. On June 16, 2012, Sindoorkhela ended on a happy note to make way for Aanchol. It won awards like 'Best Villain', 'Best Sister' and was nominated 'Best Actor', 'Best Actress', 'Best Serial' etc. in Star Jalsha Tele Samman Award 2012, Star Jalsha Parivaar Awards 2012 and Anandolok Award 2011.
The story revolves around Jashodhara and her three daughters including Simantini. They are into vermillion trade. While to Jashodhara the meaning of sindoor is strictly business, to her daughters, it is more symbolic. A possessive mother, Jashodhara's presence hampers the marital life of her two daughters. But the youngest daughter, Simantini knows that with the application of sindoor, there comes certain responsibilities both as a wife and a mother.
