The Deception is a 1909 American silent short drama film directed by D. W. Griffith.
Plot
Harry Colton is a young artist who struggles with poverty and lack of recognition. When financial pressure becomes severe, he resolves to look for work that pays more than his art. His wife, Mabel, dissuades him from leaving his art, pleading that he continue as a painter while she supports the household. She tells him she has obtained a piano-teaching position at the local conservatory.
